Hermine Anna Sammut artist and and pedagogue

I was born in 1965 in Vienna, the city of music and art and grew up in a very creative family. My mother used to design hats for famous ice shows and my father was a technical draughtsman which was the base of my creativity.

In 1986 I qualified as a teacher. Through self teaching and attending specific courses such as paper making, folk art, decorative painting, silk painting, stained glass and pottery I developed my creative and artistic skills and was permitted to teach Art, Crafts and Design and Design of Fashion Jewellery in Vienna secondary schools and in adult evening classes. I also underwent a training for “Gestalt” thereapy, which lead me in a later stage to work with autistic children.

In 1995 I married and moved to Malta where I lectured and introduced the subject 'Art,Craft and Design' at the Institute of Tourism Studies.

After taking a 2 year break following the birth of my son in 2003, I became a self employed artist and ever since conduct courses for tourists at my own home studio in Gozo and in the beautiful nature of the island.

I also kept on taking art classes at the local art school and certified in several artistic disciplines such as silver and gold smith, print making, ceramics and painting.

I continusly participates in exhibitions abroad and locally, showing my contemporary artwork, sculptures jewellery and installation.
